pediments- classical architectural element consisting of the triangle



facade- often symetrical

   church facades are generally surmounted by a pediment and organized by a

system of pilasters arches and entablatures
    columns and windows show progrssion towards center
    domestic buildings are often surmounted bu a cornice

vaults-no ribs, semicircular or segmental, barrel vault is brought back


dome- frequently used the dome became an indispensable element in church architecture

doors- square intels set with arch


openings- arches frequently have large decorative keystone


windows- square lintels and triangular or segmental pediments which are  used alternately.


details- showed innovation on solving problems especially in corner. moldings stand out around doors and windows rather than being recessed
